On January 16th, the 28th Annual Golden Disk Awards was held at the Grand Peace Palace in Kyung Hee University. The most prominent idols of 2013 attended the event, including contemporary boyband SHINee! The hosts for the event were Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon and Tiffany, BEAST’s Yoon Doojoon, CNBlue’s Yonghwa and SHINee’s Minho.
The five shining members of SHINee strutted through the red carpet wearing black and white themed suits for the prestigious awards ceremony. The boys were off to a good start as they won their first award for the night, the “Ceci Asia Icon Award”, along with four-member girl group, SISTAR.
SHINee then bagged their second trophy, the “Popularity Award”, marking their 4th consecutive win for the award. The boys also clinched a Disk Bonsang Award along with six-member boy group, BEAST. Donning their performance outfits—in all-white suits this time; they gladly received the award and presented a speech to show their gratitude. Onew took the lead and thanked their parents, managers, the production team, choreographers, as well as their fanbase, SHINee World, for voting for and supporting them. Key then added that they will continue to do their very best and requested their fans to keep supporting them. The boys snagged a total of three awards, proving their fame in the music scene.
The act saved best for last was none other than SHINee themselves, as they brought on an exceptional performance, awing the crowd as usual! They first performed a ballad version of their 2013 hit, “Dream Girl”, and the sensational performance was so well-received by the fans that it made it to the Twitter worldwide trending list! It was then followed by a powerful stage of the original composition of “Dream Girl”. The boys ended their stage with a mind-blowing performance of another hit track of theirs, “Everybody”!
